How I look after your information

The short version: I collect only what I need to help you, I keep it safe, I never sell it or pass it around, and you can ask to see or correct it any time. The detail is below.

Who I am

Em by Your Side is a small business mentoring and support service based in Marlborough and Kaikōura, run by Em. For anything about your information, contact me on 021 780 383 or at em@embyyourside.co.nz.

What I collect

  • Your contact details: name, phone, email, and business address.
  • Information about your business that you share with me, such as what it does, your goals, your systems, and your worries.
  • Financial information you choose to show me, such as sales figures or costs, when it is needed for the work.
  • Notes I make during our meetings and work together.

Why I collect it

  • To provide the advice and support you have asked for.
  • To prepare documents, reports, and plans for you.
  • To invoice you and keep proper business records.
  • To stay in touch about the work, and to check in if you are on ongoing support.

How I keep it safe

Your information is stored securely and I take reasonable steps to protect it from loss, misuse, or unauthorised access. I keep only what I need, for as long as I need it, and I keep proper records for the period required by New Zealand law.

Who I share it with

I do not sell your information and I do not pass it around. I will only share it where you ask me to, where I need to in order to do the work you have engaged me for, or where the law requires it. Where I use a trusted service to help run my business, such as accounting or file storage, I choose providers who take privacy seriously.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to see the information I hold about you, and ask me to correct it if it is wrong. Just get in touch and I will sort it out. If you are ever unhappy with how I have handled your information, you can raise it with me directly, and you also have the right to contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
